What to Witness is another way of asking "As Witnesses what do we say?"
The "What" in what to witness, succeeds after identifying "Who" we are witnessing about. Our Witness is about a person, Jesus Christ.
Witnessing about Jesus Christ and "What" He has done for us and all of man kind is our witness.
We are preaching, teaching, sharing and witnessing about the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ.
As witnesses, we are repeating the proclamation which God Himself has made through Jesus Christ.
We are witnesses that every man on earth, is guilty in violating the Law of God.
We recognize and testify, that God demands justice against all the violators of His Laws and that His form of justice demands the death of the violator.
As one that has personally violated God's Law, we personally understood the consequence for our action, according to God's justice, that we should be put to death.
We are witnesses, therefore, that God in His great mercy toward us, came in the form of a man, Jesus Christ and through His sacrificial death on the cross, took our place for every violation we committed and received to Himself the wrath of God on our behalf.
We witnessed then that we have been forgiven for all our sin against God and that God is now at peace with us, never again to be angry with us, because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
We also witness that through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God having raised Him from the dead, justified Christ.
Jesus, having fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law, removed the law from us, that we may then appear before God as righteous, holy, blameless, without spot or wrinkle.
When we believed with our heart, we confessed it with our mouth. Then upon our confession to believe, the Spirit of God entered our heart, confirmed this proclamation of God in our soul and sealed us with the promise of eternal life by His Holy Spirit.
Therefore, we stand as witnesses that we are righteous in the sight and presence of God, because we have received the blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sin. We have accepted His righteousness as a gift by His grace and we stand believing now by faith, His sacrifice and resurrection to be sufficient for all judgment we face in the future, against all condemnation.
As a witness to others, we profess that the same forgiveness, reconciliation and righteousness we have received is available to them, by grace through faith.
For everyone that would be willing to confess with their mouth and believe in their heart, that Jesus Christ is the Lord in the flesh, giving Himself on behalf of man to God and that God has justified Christ, raising Him from the dead, may receive His righteousness as a gift by grace through faith.
The same Holy Spirit that bore witness in our soul, sealed us to eternal Life and makes us joint heirs with Christ, will also do the same for all who would believe and receive.
This is the "What" of our witness: Forgiveness, Peace with God, Reconciliation by the Holy Spirit to God, Righteousness as a Gift, eternal life and all the promises to Abraham now belong to all who believe.
Now "How" do we explain all of this? That is in the next Session.
