Prepare to Witness

Preparation for witnessing will be looked at from two perspectives.

First, is the "Going out to Witness" approach.

Whether its going door to door witnessing, street witnessing or an event of witnessing where you are setting the when and where, this is a plan of "Going out to Witness."

Preparation for "Going out to Witness" is simple.

Prayer should take priority in this. Much like the spiritual darkness that was addressed in the previous session, you will be faced with opposition and prayer is the key to overcoming this opposition of spiritual darkness.

When I go door to door, the Lord has lead me to define the area I will be entering that day and walk the entire parameter while praying for guidance and deliverance of those held captive. Taking authority over the spiritual darkness in that area and declaring it to be the Lord's in prayer.

When going to a particular place , like the streets, the beach or carnival etc. Prayer prior to the venture prepares our hearts, as well as the spiritual condition of the area we are going to witness in.

Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in prayer, pray in the Spirit and with the understanding. Stay alert to your surroundings and expect everyone you come into contact with, as a person that is interested in what you have to say. The alternative is to expect that no one is interested and if that is the belief, then why venture out and waste your valuable time? Best to believe that people want to hear what you have to say, this way you will find the people the Lord is preparing for you to meet.

Other preparations may be to equip yourself with the tracts you can leave with people. Whether they stop to talk with you or not, then they have something they can take with them, to review and ponder later at their convenience.

You can learn more about "Going out to Witness" in our "Witnessing Ideas" section of our website.

Secondly is "Witnessing as you go out." This is really what the "Do You Know?" Campaign is all about. As you go about your daily living, with all the events of your day, you are prepared at any moment, to witness about Jesus Christ to others.

Up to this point, you have received everything you need to know in order to witness your faith to someone. Now its just about being prepared to do so.

You shouldn't expect yourself to suddenly be an Apostle Paul, ready to be jailed and tortured for your belief and witness. But you could come to such a boldness through starting with familiar territory.

The preparation to witness must include personal growth. Not everyone starts with the same boldness to witness, but everyone can grow in the boldness to witness.

So maybe as part of your preparation, you start leaving tracts at various places so others can pick them up to read. Hopefully they will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through the tract you left.

Other ideas may be to begin by telling a child about the Lord.

Hopefully, a child you already know, like your own children, grandchild, niece or nephew.

Then start sharing on a casual basis with family and friends.

Soon you will find situations and circumstances offering themselves open for prayer and a witness about Jesus Christ.

Eventually over time, you will find people beginning to seek you out for prayer during times of crisis.

Preparation to witness is deciding to start. Then starting with what you believe the Lord is leading you to do. Its fun, simple and it works.
