The Holy Spirit is just as much God, as God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son. The three are one as we are made in the image of God; Spirit, Soul and Body.
Some would ask "How can God be three persons?" The answer is, stated above. We too are three separate beings, yet one entity.
We are a spiritual being, possessing a soul which is our emotions and intellect and we live in a physical body. Spirit, soul and body. A three part, but single entity, just like God.
In this part of the session, we will highlight the role of the Holy Spirit in witnessing. This is not to say these are the ONLY roles of the Holy Spirit. Just as God the Father and Jesus Christ are infinite beings, likewise is the Holy Spirit.
So we hope to make it clear, that the Holy Spirit is not confined to our outline in this lesson. We only attempt to illustrate the partnership and leadership the Holy Spirit operates in with us as we witness about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Revelation of Sin
Every one needs a revelation of sin. Without the knowledge of sin, we would have no knowledge of the need for a Savior. The revelation of sin comes through the Holy Spirit convicting a person of their sin and short comings.
When a person hears the Word of God, the law and its requirements, the Holy Spirit shines light in the heart of a person regarding their own personal state.
Once a person realizes their state of sin and their depravity, the Holy Spirit then reveals the judgment of death that is required for rebellion against God.
Revelation of Judgment
When a person is convicted of their sin through the hearing of the Word and the revelation by the Holy Spirit, they gain a knowledge for the need of righteousness. Their lack of righteousness in their own life and righteousness through Jesus Christ are both revelations of the Holy Spirit.
Without righteousness, it is impossible to enter the presence of God. This revelation by the Holy Spirit of embedding doom, brings a person to acknowledge the need for a Savior.
Revelation of Christ
When a person surrenders to the knowledge of their present state and they are now willing to open their heart to help, outside of themselves, the Holy Spirit reveals to them the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
That Jesus Christ is Lord, Who came in the flesh and died for their sin. That Jesus rose from the dead and would redeem everyone that called on His Name.
This is all done through revelation of the Holy Spirit and the seed of the Word of God planted within their heart.
Revelation of New Birth
As a person turns to Jesus Christ, through prayer and invitation of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit creates a new heart and a new spirit within the believer. This is called the New Birth experience and seals them unto salvation.
Redemption has taken place. The New believer has received righteousness as a gift by grace. They have been given the power and authority to inherit the Kingdom of God and to have relationship with a Holy God, through the holiness of Jesus Christ.
Empowered to Serve
Once a person receives the revelation of their previous sinful condition and receives Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit sanctifies that individual.
The Holy Spirit then leads the person to give others the good news about the gift of salvation.
To empower the person, the Holy Spirit baptizes them with an anointing from God. He instills gifts and power within them, to be His witnesses and to lead others into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. This is commonly known as the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Communication Link with God
Through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, every individual becomes keenly aware of their communication abilities with God.
Through prayer and the heavenly language known as speaking in tongues, communication with their Heavenly Father begins to increase over time and their desire to love continues to grow.
These are all the result of the Holy Spirit and a brief look into His role in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.
